IT security threats in Australia rise

The number of IT security threats reported Australian Signals Directorate reported a 20% rise in 2014 to 1131, reports itNews.

Separately, 11,073 cyber incidents were handled by CERT Australia in 2014.

Of that number, 153 involved critical infrastructure, government or national interest systems.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre states that the cyber incidents reported by Australian governments and business have increased over threefold in the past three years.

The predominant cybercrime threats were said to be ransomware and malware.
