Five volcanic eruptions prompt closure of three airports

Five volcanic eruptions in Indonesia have blanketed skies in ash and prompted closure of three airports, reported The Associated Press.

A volcanologist said that Mount Raung volcano spewed ash and debris up to 2,000 meters into the air. The volcanologist said that ash also erupted from Sinabung volcano, Mount Karangetang, Gamalama and Dukono mountains. More than 13,000 people have been evacuated due to volcano eruptions since June, added the volcanologist. About 37 flights have been cancelled to and from Ngurah Rai airport in Bali, said media reports.
