BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

European windstorm insured losses up to nearly $1 billion

Windstorm Mike-Niklas caused about €895 million ($999.45 million) in insured property losses when it struck parts of Western and Central Europe in late March and early April, according to catastrophe data firm Perils A.G.

Perils on Monday released its second loss estimate for insured losses for the storm system that hit Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom between March 29 and April 1.

Perils increased its loss estimate for the storm, which caused the most damage in Germany and was known as Lentestorm in the Netherlands, from the initial loss estimate of €853 million ($952.6 million) announced on May 11.

Perils will release a third loss estimate for damage from the storm on Sept. 29.
