Belushi widow's ex gets zero percent

A Massachusetts appeals court ruled last week that the ex-husband of John Belushi's widow is entitled to “0.0” percent of the earnings Judith Belushi derives from royalties and residuals linked to the late comic.

Victor Pisano, who became Ms. Belushi's second husband in 1990, had sought to overturn a prenuptial agreement the couple had signed.

Ms. Belushi filed for divorce in October 2010, and Mr. Pisano was awarded temporary alimony of $2,000 a month in February 2011.

In 2012 the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Probate and Family Court in East Cambridge, Massachusetts, issued a “bifurcated judgment” stating that the prenuptial agreement did not preclude Mr. Pisano from seeking alimony, but that the amount was limited to whatever property was acquired during the marriage.

“Husband waived any rights to alimony using the income from the Wife's intellectual rights,” the judge wrote.

However, much like Mr. Belushi's “Animal House” crack about the German victory at Pearl Harbor, Ms. Belushi's triumph was not complete.

While the appeals court agreed that Mr. Pisano was not entitled to alimony, the court ruled that he did not have to help Ms. Belushi pay back a $100,000 loan she secured from Mr. Belushi's brother in 2010 or to reimburse her $32,000 for the temporary alimony paid.
