Toyota Motor Corp. Australia, a subsidiary of Japan's Toyota Motor Corp., is recalling 181,000 cars over an airbag defect, reports Skynews.com.au.

The move is part of a global recall of over five million Toyota vehicles with airbags manufactured by Japan-based Takata Corp.

Toyota Australia said the recall would include vehicles built between 2003 and 2007 and involves its Corolla, Yaris, Echo, Avensis Verso and Rav4 models.

Toyota would provide free replacement for the part.

The carmaker also said that it is recalling 26,050 cars in New Zealand over the same defect.
