Economic losses from rains in China total $20.9 million

Local authorities said that heavy rainfall in China's Jiangxi province has claimed three lives and prompted relocation of over 1,600 people, reports Xinhua.

The disaster has resulted in direct economic losses of 130 million Chinese yuan ($20.9 million).

More than half of the losses were caused by damage to 19,200 hectares of crops.

Data from the provincial civil affairs department showed that storm has seriously damaged 222 houses.
