Challenges ahead for marine insurance sector

International Union of Marine Insurance President Dieter Berg expects several challenges ahead for the marine insurance sector in the form of cyber threats and the trend towards mega-vessels, Splash 24/7 reported.

The increasing size of container ships is affecting insurers, Mr. Berg said. "We are facing increased exposure from information technology, from the growth in offshore oil and gas exploration and from the never-ending search for economies of scale within the shipbuilding and operating sector."
