Gulf of Guinea remains piracy hotspot: Report

U.K.-based marine intelligence firm Dryad Maritime said in a report that pirates have been active in the Gulf of Guinea in the first quarter of 2015, defenceWeb reported.

Piracy in the Horn of Africa has been contained, the report said.

Kidnapping of crew for ransom remains the most significant threat to mariners in the Gulf of Guinea, said Dryad.

About 18 confirmed piracy incidents have been reported in the region during the first quarter as compared with 22 during the same period in 2014.
