Piracy increasing in Southeast Asia: Report

The International Maritime Bureau said in a recent report that Southeast Asia accounted for over half of all sea pirate attacks since the start of 2015, Voice of America reported.

IMB director Pottengal Mukundan has said that small oil ships in the region are attacked by armed pirates about every two weeks.

Nearly 40% of pirate attacks have been off the coast of Indonesia in 2015.

Armed robbery incidents have been increasing in Vietnam, with eight incidents being reported in the first three months of 2015.
