Christchurch council set to take insurer to court over claim dispute

The Christchurch City Council in New Zealand is set to take Civic Assurance to court over a claim worth almost $1 billion New Zealand ($759 million), Radio New Zealand reported.

A NZD 143 million claim for the city's Lancaster Park stadium is said to be a major stumbling block in the council's negotiations with Civic Assurance. The council has said the park is a write-off. However, the insurer has said the park can be repaired.
