CNA Financial Corp. on Wednesday said it has appointed Andrew Pinkes as executive vice president of worldwide property/casualty claim, effective May 18.

Mr. Pinkes takes over from George Fay, who will retire this year following a transition period with Mr. Pinkes, the insurer said in the statement.

Mr. Pinkes, who will have offices in Chicago and Hartford, Connecticut, will be responsible for claim strategies and operations for the firm’s $6.5 billion worldwide property/casualty operations, CNA said.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Pinkes served as the global head of claims for XL Group P.L.C., where he was responsible for claim strategy and support.

“Since joining CNA in 2006, George Fay and CNA’s worldwide claim team have built a solid foundation, and I am confident Andrew will continue the work to build a world-class claim organization to serve our customers,” Tom Motamed, CNA chairman and CEO, said in the statement.
