Marine insurance sector facing new liabilities: Skuld chief

Stale Hansen, chief executive of Norway-based marine insurer Assuranceforeningen Skuld, has said that the marine insurance sector has been facing new emerging liabilities, reported Ship & Bunker.

These are emerging financial, technical and man-made liabilities, Mr. Hansen said. Increasing vessel sizes and complex oil and gas drilling or construction projects have created new technical problems to consider, said the International Union of Marine Insurance. "As risk evolves, so insurers need to evolve and diversify," added Mr. Hansen.
