Cyber insurance take-up low in U.K.

The U.K. government said in a report that only 2% of large firms in the country have cyber insurance, Reuters reported.

The number decreases to almost zero for smaller firms, the report said.

The report published in cooperation with Marsh L.L.C. said that the country's insurance industry and the government must pool data and information to boost take-up of cyber insurance.

"Cyber attacks against U.K. companies present a daily threat to normal U.K. business operations and are increasing in severity," said the report.
