Reinsurers plan to enter Indian market

Several global reinsurance players have shown interest in opening branch offices in India and are awaiting new rules from the country's insurance regulator, reported The Indian Express.

Following the passage of the Insurance Bill by Indian Parliament recently, the regulator is likely to frame guidelines to facilitate the foreign players' entry into the reinsurance business.

Reinsurers including Swiss Re Ltd., Scor S.E., Hannover Re S.E. and Munich Reinsurance Co. are planning to enter the Indian market with branch offices.
