Julia Graham will join Airmic Ltd. as technical director on May 1, the U.K. risk management association announced Wednesday.

Ms. Graham, a former chair of Airmic and current president of FERMA, the Federation of European Risk Management Associations, will succeed Paul Hopkin, who announced in January that he would be stepping down.

Ms. Graham will also chair Airmic’s Advisory Board to be established later this year. She will continue as FERMA president until her term expires in October.

The Advisory Board will be made up of some of Airmic’s most senior risk managers.

“We are thrilled that Julia has agreed to join Airmic,” said Airmic CEO John Hurrell in a statement, “She is one of the most respected professionals in the business and a true thought leader in her field. Julia will also be an outstanding guide and coach for our brilliant young team in the Airmic secretariat as well as being a natural leader for our Advisory Board.”
