Damage from Rome soccer riots totals nearly $8.8 million

Claudio Presicce, head of monuments conservation of Italy's Rome city, said that the damage caused by riots during a Europa League soccer match totaled nearly €8 million ($8.8 million), reported NL Times.

Damage to the Barcaccia fountain at the foot of the Spanish Steps amounted to nearly €1.5 million ($1.6 million).

The city is also incurring a loss in the range of €3 million ($3.3 million) to €4 million ($4.4 million) as a result of "reputation damage" among potential tourists.
