Insured losses from cyclone Marcia in Australia pegged at $41.6 million

Insurers in Australia have estimated the insured losses from the recent cyclone Marcia that hit the country to be at $53.4 million Australian ($41.6 million), Dailymail.co.uk reported.

The damage bill from the category five cyclone that affected the country's Queensland region is expected to increase.

The Insurance Council of Australia said that policy holders have lodged about 8,950 claims.

At least 1,000 homes have been hit by structural damage due to the cyclone.

Infrastructure across central Queensland, including roads has also been affected.
