November storm damage figure tops $776 million

Damage from the storm that hit Australia's Brisbane city in November 2014 has exceeded $1 billion Australian ($776 million) and the number continues to rise, ABC.net.au reported.

The storm caused huge damage to property and vehicles. "We would classify this as the largest hail storm that Brisbane has ever experienced," said Joshua Cooney, a Suncorp Group Ltd. spokesman. Suncorp expects to settle 90% of the 31,000 claims it received by July 2015, Mr. Cooney said.
