Authorities call foul on Ted Lilly's RV insurance pitch

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Ted Lilly has been accused of insurance fraud.

The man who earned nearly $80 million during his 1999-2013 career as a professional baseball pitcher reportedly purchased insurance on a $200,000 recreational vehicle after he was involved in a mishap.

Mr. Lilly, who pitched for the Montreal Expos, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers, has been charged with insurance fraud in San Luis Obispo County, California, and faces up to five years in prison according to The (San Luis Obispo) Tribune.

According to the report, Mr. Lilly damaged his land monster to the tune of approximately $4,600 last year, then purchased insurance in March 2014 from Progressive Casualty Insurance Co. and filed a claim.

The 39-year-old who has been charged with three felonies by the California Department of Insurance would have been better off with hindsight insurance.
