Jury behind Rick Springfield in concert collision case

Rick Springfield, singer of the 1980s pop song “Jessie’s Girl,” did not disable a concertgoer with his butt when he fell during into the audience while performing, a New York jury reportedly ruled last week.

Vicki Calcagno of Liverpool, New York, accused the singer’s rear end of colliding with her head at a 2004 concert, leaving her unconscious for up to 30 minutes, according to the Post-Standard newspaper in Syracuse, New York.

Ms. Calcagno reportedly submitted a close-up photo of Mr. Springfield’s butt as evidence in the case, saying the picture was taken just before his derriere hit her. However, Mr. Springfield reportedly testified in court that his posterior did not hit Ms. Calcagno, and Ms. Calcagno acknowledged in court that she attended a pop concert performed by Cyndi Lauper a week after the alleged run-in with Mr. Springfield’s bum.

A New York Supreme Court jury came back with a “not negligent” verdict in the case on Friday after an hour of deliberation, the Post-Standard said.
