Willis names Phil Smaje to lead U.K. broking strategy

Phil Smaje on Tuesday was named to the newly created role of chief broking officer for Willis GB, the unit of Willis Group Holdings P.L.C. that includes its U.K. retail insurance, facultative and London specialty businesses.

Mr. Smaje, who previously was CEO of Willis’ aerospace business, will be responsible for driving the broking strategy of Willis GB, the brokerage said in a statement.

John Rooley, previously CEO of Willis Aerospace Americas based in Vancouver, British Columbia, will succeed Mr. Smaje as CEO of Willis’ aerospace business and will relocate to London, Willis said.
