Specialty insurance broker Alliant Insurance Services Inc. said Wednesday it has acquired employee benefits consulting firm American Benefits Consulting L.L.C.

New York-based American Benefits Consulting provides employee benefits consulting services for Fortune 500 companies, focusing on voluntary benefits, group insurance, executive benefits and international benefits, Alliant said Wednesday in a statement.

A spokeswoman on Thursday declined to comment on the terms of the deal, which were not disclosed.

American Benefits Consulting CEO Peter Worth joins Alliant as vice chairman of employee benefits, along with four additional principals — Eric Levy, Craig Guiffre, Jeffrey Jones and Paul Connolly — who will join Alliant as senior vice presidents of employee benefits, according to the statement.

American Benefits Consulting and its staff of 50 employees will continue to operate in the firm's current locations.

“Our clients rely on us to provide proactive consulting and negotiating talent that is built around their business model,” Mr. Worth said in the statement. “Alliant shares this approach and will provide valuable resources and relationships to ensure that our client base continues to grow and receive the most cost-effective and innovative benefits solutions in the market.”

In 2014, Alliant acquired Pittsburgh-based disability and life consulting firm Sagewell Partners and New York-based employee benefits provider The Camps Group L.L.C.

Alliant was the 12th-largest broker of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance's latest ranking.
