Patrick Walsh has been named alternative markets leader for Accident Fund Holdings Inc., the Lansing, Michigan-based workers compensation insurer said Tuesday.

In addition to his new role, Mr. Walsh will continue to serve as senior vice president and chief claims officer for the insurer, Accident Fund said in a statement.

As alternative markets leader, Mr. Walsh “will be responsible for continuing non-traditional and innovative business solutions and generating new and creative opportunities in response to agent and customer needs,” according to the statement.

“Patrick's keen leadership, industry expertise and immense organizational skills will allow us to successfully explore alternative markets and solutions,” Accident Fund Holdings Chief Financial Officer Frank Freund said in the statement. “I'm extremely pleased to have him leading and working with me as part of this effort.”

Mr. Walsh, who is based in Milwaukee, joined Accident Fund in 2010. He's also vice chair for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, and he sits on the advisory board for the National Workers' Compensation and Disability Conference.
