FERMA appoints Jo Willaert as deputy president

Jo Willaert has been appointed to the newly created position of deputy president of the Federation of European Risk Management Associations.

Mr. Willaert, corporate risk manager for Brussels, Belgium-based Agfa Gevaert N.V., will succeed Julia Graham as president of FERMA when her two-year term of office ends in October 2015, Brussels-based FERMA said in a statement Friday.

In addition, FERMA announced that Edwin V. Meyer, general manager for risk and insurance management at ArcelorMittal S.A. in Luxembourg, has been appointed secretary general, succeeding Pierre Sonigo, who has been in the role since 2004.

Anders Esbjornsson, group risk manager at Solna, Sweden-based construction company NCC A.B., has been appointed treasurer of FERMA, succeeding Fernand De Winter, the association said in the statement. All appointments became effective Dec. 11.

“These are important appointments for FERMA to secure the future succession of our leadership,” said Ms. Graham in the statement.

“This is vital for FERMA to maintain and develop its role as the voice of European risk management, insurance and risk financing and to continue with groundbreaking projects such as the certification of European risk professionals, which we will launch in 2015,” she added.
