China: 25,000 firms have purchased pollution liability cover since 2007, ministry says
Posted On: Dec. 5, 2014 12:00 AM CSTChina's Ministry of Environmental Protection has said that around 25,000 Chinese businesses have purchased pollution liability insurance since 2007, Shanghai Daily reports citing Xinhua.
The coverage amount has exceeded 60 billion Chinese yuan ($9.75 billion) since 2007, the ministry said. Firms that have bought the insurance include those in the heavy metals, dangerous waste disposal and electricity sectors, among others.
