Iceland: 5.4-magnitude earthquake hits Bardarbunga volcano

An earthquake measuring 5.4 in magnitude has hit the northern caldera rim of Iceland's Bardarbunga volcano, reported Iceland Review Online.

Iceland's Met Office said an increase in seismic activity in the intrusion was recorded after the caldera tremors.

About 90 tremors have been recorded in the Bardarbunga region in 24 hours.

The pollution caused by the volcanic eruption in Holuhraun is likely to affect regions located north and east of the eruption site.
