Iceland: Sulfur-dioxide gases from Bardarbunga volcano worry residents

Iceland's Bardarbunga volcano has been erupting for three months now, spewing red-hot lava that has covered 70 square kilometers, Bloomberg reports.

Sulfur-dioxide gases from the Holuhraun lava field near the Bardarbunga volcano have caused concerns for local residents.

An eruption under the ice of the glacier on which the volcano is situated could cause a blast that would spew ash into the air, hitting air travel.

Around 200 earthquakes have shaken the region near the eruption site since Nov. 7, 2014.
