Capacity alone insufficient for strong reinsurance business model: Swiss Re

Swiss Re Ltd.'s chief executive Michel Lies has said that reinsurers who offer only capacity could face problems, even as there are many challenges and opportunities in the insurance and reinsurance markets, Artemis.bm reports.

Mr. Lies said the reinsurance sector was not relevant enough and the time of "one size fits all" is over. The executive urged reinsurers to improve their relevance by becoming more than just capacity providers. Mr. Lies also said the industry should focus on finding a way to cover uninsured risks.
