Bangladesh: Transformer blasts result in losses worth $37.5 million in 2013-14 fiscal
Posted On: Sep. 26, 2014 12:00 AM CSTA recent study has found that around 39,000 power distribution transformers exploded in Bangladesh during the 2013-14 fiscal year, causing losses worth 2.9 billion Bangladeshi takas ($37.5 million), reports the Dhaka Tribune.
In August itself, a loss of about BDT 300 million was reported as 4,040 transformers exploded. The study said that currently, 70-80% of the transformers installed across the country are at a risk of exploding.
