Philippines: Crop insurance against climate change for 800 Ilocano farmers
Posted On: Sep. 9, 2014 12:00 AM CSTThe Philippine government will select at least 800 farmers in the Ilocos Norte region as beneficiaries of a crop insurance plan to cover them against the impact of climate change, reported InterAksyon.
Ilocos Norte is part of the Department of Budget and Management's fund worth more than 1 billion Philippine pesos ($23 million).
In 2013, the government had partnered with Philippine Crop Insurance Corp. to cover beneficiaries against crop loss.
