Mexico: Oil spill causes serious wildlife damage

Authorities said that an oil spill has occurred in Veracruz, Mexico, caused by illegal oil extraction, reported teleSUR.

The spill happened in the Hondo stream.

More than six kilometers of the stream were affected by the spill and several animals, such as turtles and fishes, were killed, a town official said.

In recent days, Mexico has suffered many oil spills.

One occurred in the San Juan river, caused by illegal extractions, and another one in a river in Sonora, where 40,000 cubic meters of toxic waste were spilled.
