Malaysia: MH17 disaster unlikely to significantly hit local insurers

The Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 tragedy is unlikely to significantly affect Malaysian insurers that are members of an aviation insurance pool for the airline's fleet, The Sun Daily reported.

One main reason for this is that a majority of the claims related to the disaster are likely to be covered by the airline’s war risk insurance underwriter. U.K.-based Atrium Underwriting Group Ltd. is the lead underwriter for Malaysia Airlines' war-risk insurance, The Sun Daily reports.
