Bangladesh: Improving safety at factories will cost more than $150 million, says group

The U.S. Alliance for Bangladeshi Worker Safety has said that efforts to bring Bangladeshi industrial units used by North America-based retailers up to fire and building safety benchmarks will involve a cost of more than $150 million, The Guardian reported.

The group also said that it would take at least 18 months for the work to be completed. More than 170 global retailers are, along with the Alliance are backing the Bangladesh Accord on Fire & Building Safety which is inspecting more than 1,500 clothing factories.
