Japan: Mount Fuji in 'critical state' after 2011 earthquake, scientists say

The 2011 Tohoku-Oki earthquake in Japan has caused pressure to build under active volcano Mount Fuji, Sydney Morning Herald reported.

A research carried out by scientists at the Institute of Earth Sciences in Grenoble, France, found that Mount Fuji is in a "critical state" due to the build-up of pressure.

Florent Brenguier, lead author of the research, said "Mount Fuji is now in a state of pressure, which means it displays a high potential for eruption."
