Payouts for crashed Malaysian flight MH-17 hinge on determining fault
Posted On: Jul. 18, 2014 12:00 AM CSTInsurers for the Malaysia Airlines flight MH-17 that crashed in Ukraine are expected to make the payments relatively fast, if the cause of the crash is determined, Reuters reported.
However, observers expect payouts for the 295 lives lost in the crash and other liability to be complex and time-consuming. Aviation attorney Robert Cohn said investigators will try to establish if the aircraft was struck by a missile or blew up of its own accord. Since the incident, several airlines have said they would avoid Ukraine's airspace.
