American International Group to close business in Sri Lanka

American International Group Inc. said it has "decided to withdraw from the Sri Lanka market," Xinhua reported.

The insurer said it has been examining "those business segments within those countries in which products and services are not meeting the needs of our customers or are not a current focus of AIG." The company has been asked by the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka to submit written exit plans explaining its action concerning workers and policyholders.
