Marsh & McLennan Agency buys North Carolina agency

Marsh & McLennan Agency L.L.C., a subsidiary of insurance broker Marsh L.L.C., on Monday said it has acquired Senn Dunn Insurance, North Carolina's largest independent insurance agency.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, Senn Dunn Insurance was founded in 1927 and generates approximately $30 million in annual revenue, Marsh & McLennan Agency said in a statement.

Senn Dunn provides a full range of brokerage and consulting services in personal and commercial lines, including property/casualty and employee benefits. The firm of 155 full-time employees is licensed in 34 states and has specific expertise in the financial services, construction, education, environmental and social services industries, according to the statement.

Senn Dunn Insurance will continue to operate under its current name as part of Marsh & McLennan Agency's mid-Atlantic region and retain its current staff, executive team and offices.

“Senn Dunn's exemplary leadership, staff and reputation for being a client-focused organization with strong community ties make it an excellent addition to MMA's mid-Atlantic region,” Thomas R. Brown, vice chairman of Marsh & McLennan Agency's mid-Atlantic region, said in the statement.

“We are excited to begin a new chapter with the MMA team,” T. Gray McCaskill, Senn Dunn Insurance's CEO, said in a statement. “This transition is an excellent opportunity to expand our reach, ensuring new opportunities for our associates and more resources for our clients.”
