Increasing political violence affecting supply chains: Maplecroft

Risk analytics firm Maplecroft Ltd. has said in a report that during the past six months, conflict and political violence levels have risen in 48 nations, creating considerable "challenges to supply chains," reports Supply Management.

A Maplecroft analyst said such risks mean that "companies potentially face higher costs" related to increased security, "and also increased insurance premiums." In such situations, companies "also face increased reputational risks," the analyst added. Sixteen nations were rated "extreme risk" in the Maplecroft report.
