China: Strike at shoe plant disrupts output
Posted On: Apr. 21, 2014 12:00 AM CSTContinued strike action at Yue Yuen Industrial Holdings Ltd.'s shoe factory in Dongguan, China, has brought production to a halt for five days, Bloomberg reported.
China Labor Bulletin said there were at least 10,000 strikers at the facility. Protests began earlier in April 2014 over company contributions to workers' social security and housing funds. An employee told China Labor Bulletin that the company may owe workers around 1 billion Chinese yuan ($160 million) in arrears, reports Bloomberg.
