Japan: Only one-third of nuclear reactors might be restarted, analysis suggests

Japan may only be able to restart as few as a third, and at most about two-thirds, of its nuclear reactors, shows a Reuters analysis.

The Fukushima disaster prompted the country to close all of its nuclear reactors.

Of the country's 54 reactors, six have been permanently shut, 14 are likely to restart at some point, a further 17 hang in the balance, while the remaining 17 are unlikely to restart, the analysis suggests.
