Cargo ship with 8,000 tons of iron ore feared sunk off Indian coast

Panama-registered cargo ship MV Bingo is feared sunk near West Bengal, India, reportedly because of cyclone Phailin.

The vessel, sailing to China, was carrying 8,000 tons of iron ore when it left Sagar Island on Oct. 11, The Financial Express reported.

The Indian Coast Guard is yet to locate the ship.

A port official said "it is not clear why was the ship sailing when there was an alert of an approaching storm."
