Canada: Calgary flood damages now estimated at $436.5 million

Damages from the recent floods in the Canadian city of Calgary total an estimated $460 million Canadian ($436.5 million), including damages related to city-owned assets and infrastructure, a new report prepared for the Mayor said.

New estimates indicate that clean-up and other works at parks are expected to cost an additional CAD 6.5 million ($6.2 million), on top of the CAD 6.6 million approved during the state of emergency, reports Canadian daily Metro. City staff had recently suggested revisions to the 2013-14 capital budget with CAD 95.6 million in extra spending for flood-related works.
