Zurich Insurance Group CFO found dead at home

Pierre Wauthier, chief financial officer of Zurich Insurance Group Ltd., was found dead at his home Monday, Zurich said.

The Swiss-based insurer said police are investigating the circumstances of Mr. Wauthier’s death.

“Out of consideration for the family, no further details have been disclosed,” Zurich said in a statement.

Mr. Wauthier joined Zurich in 1996 and was appointed group chief financial officer in 2011.

Zurich said Group Controller Vibhu Sharma will take over the group chief financial officer role in the interim.

“The board of directors, group executive committee and all of our colleagues are deeply saddened and pass on our condolences to the family and relatives,” Zurich CEO Martin Senn said in the statement.
