Investment surge in farming could wipe $8 trillion off agriculture value: Study

A study by the University of Oxford has said the recent jump in investment in farming puts the global agriculture sector under heavy stress, The Independent reported.

The study said there is a risk that a big asset bubble could burst, significantly reducing the value of the estimated $14 trillion worth of "farmland assets and agricultural capital stock" worldwide by trillions of dollars in a year.

Environmental hazards could wipe $8 trillion off the overall value, the study said.
