OFF BEAT: Price is all wrong for workers comp fraudsterPosted On: Jun. 4, 2013 12:00 AM CST
A spin on “The Price is Right” resulted in a workers compensation fraud conviction this week for a former mail carrier who reportedly was caught spinning the show’s “Big Wheel” in spite of her work injury.
Cathy Wrench Cashwell of North Carolina hurt her arm while working in 2004, according to WRAL-TV. She reportedly claimed that the accident left her unable to “stand, sit, kneel, squat, climb, bend, reach or grasp.”
However, Ms. Cashwell reportedly appeared on “The Price is Right” in 2009 and spun the game show’s famous giant wheel twice during the episode, according to WRAL. Federal investigators said Ms. Cashwell also went ziplining during a vacation in 2010.
Ms. Cashwell pleaded guilty to fraud on Monday and is expected to be sentenced in September, according to reports.
