Fiji: Cyclone Evan damage estimated at $108 million

The total cost of Cyclone Evan for Fiji is estimated at 194.9 million Fijian dollars ($108.8 million) or about 2.6% of its gross domestic product, reports fijivillage.com, citing Post-Disaster Needs Assessment report.

The cost of damage to physical assets is estimated to be FJD 121.5 million ($67.8 million), Colonel Inia Seruiratu, Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, said.

Additionally, losses of FJD 73.4 million ($40.9 million) to the economic flows are expected in the short to medium term.
