Insured losses up to $100 million in Texas fertilizer plant blast

Last week's blast killed 15 people — most of them first responders — and injured about 200 more. About 140 homes were destroyed, according to the Austin, Texas-based Insurance Council of Texas.
“The insured losses should reach $100 million as soon adjusters are allowed to inspect all of the structures and vehicles that were damaged,” a spokesman for the council said Wednesday in a statement. “As far as I can tell, every policyholder in West has been contacted by their insurance company and help has been offered.”
