The current market for non-life catastrophe reinsurance capacity is about $180 billion, of which the ILS and collateralized reinsurance space accounts for around $30 billion, Michael Stahel, partner within the LGT Capital Management AG ILS team, said.
This contribution is expected to reach about $50 billion to $60 billion by 2017 as the ILS sector continues to attract institutional investors who are seeking yields uncorrelated to economic climate.
