China's bird flu outbreak affecting businesses worldwide

Industries worldwide are being affected as a result of China's bird-flu outbreak, Bloomberg reported. Ding Shuang, an economist at Citigroup Inc., said that he sees a risk of "short-term volatilities" in inflation and growth.

The publicity associated with the flu has affected the sales of Louisville-based KFC Corp., whose parent company Yum! Brands Inc. has more than 5,200 stores in China. China Spring Tour, a travel agency, witnessed a 30% to 35% dip in the number of travelers to Shanghai and the neighboring areas in the first 10 days of April.
