Insurers to pay for pot?

It's still being sorted out whether workers compensation insurers are on the hook for medical marijuana prescriptions, according to an attorney writing in the Arizona Workers Compensation Assn.'s newsletter.

Arizona's medical marijuana law is new so it hasn't yet been established whether employers and their comp insurers in that state will have to pay for a marijuana prescription, writes Rachel Brozina at Lester & Norton. But there is a California workers comp case in which a judge ruled an insurer must pay for pot prescribed by a doctor and Arizona's law is similar, Ms. Brozina writes.

The California ruling has been appealed, however.
